Born in 1951, and by all accounts a model child and son, Arthur Gary Bishop had a much darker side. Raised in a Mormon family, and having something of idyllic childhood, no one would have thought that beneath that friendly exterior beat the heart of a monster. By the time Bishop was in his teens he had become obsessed with child pornography, and had begun to molest very small children. Ironically, while there had been complaints against him...there were never any charges filed. In early 1979 Bishop was charged with embezzlement of just over $8,000. He was arrested, plead guilty, and given a 5 year suspended sentence. Then he disappeared and change his name. On October 14, 1979 little 4 year old Alonzo Daniels would become Gary Bishop's first murder victim. After enticing the small boy to his apt. with the promise of sweets....Gary, now know as Roger Downs, started to fondle the boy causing the child to cry and scream. Bishop, in a effort to shut the child bashed his head with a hammer...when that made the child scream even more....Bishop proceeded to drown the boy in the bath tub. In the mean time, Alonzo's mother noticed him missing from the play yard and was outside looking for him...calling his name. Bishop packed the small body into a cardboard box and carried it to his car, passing within a few feet of Alonzo's mother. Later that night he took the body to a secluded place and buried it. Bishop's next victim was 11 year old Kim Peterson. Bishop met the boy at a skating rink and made friends with the blond haired blue eyed Kim. Kim mentioned that he had a pair of skates he was trying to sell to make some extra money, Bishop said he would by them and they made a deal to meet at the rink the next day. Kim never went home. Bishop raped and then bludgeoned the boy to death and buried his body next to the body of little Alonzo. Bishop's final murder victim was 4 year old Danny Davis who he enticed out of a grocery store and then took him to his apt. sexually molested the tiny boy and then smothered him to death. He buried the boy next to the other two. Eventually, they caught Bishop, and found the boys bodies. He was condemned to die and on June 10, 1988 Gary Bishop was put to death by lethal injection.
