So I used my father's day evening of free time and relaxation to get through this intriguing game. I was pleasantly surprised with its mix of topdown and sidescrolling action. This made this game quite enjoyable and provided some much needed variation. Instead of going through the same background and motions, you have to adapt fairly to keep on pounding them zombies. 

This is not an endless zombie rampage kind of game. It is more atmospheric, akin to a Resident Evil instalment, where you need to search and find the items needed to get out of danger.

This game is not bad, truly not bad, but rather short. I would have enjoyed more... But still worth a play.

I have played three times and came up with three possible endings. Not sure if there are more. Let me know if you find any more.

There is no walkthrough to follow, just upgrade as you go and spill blood, baby! If you have played Boxhead games before, you know what to expect and what to do, but this time you also get to defend bases and castles, which a cool addition to the series, instead of just running around. Be wary of the red devils though, be very wary.

The new Dead Frontier: Outbreak game, will most likely pick up where the second episode ended, in a small zombie-proof compound with resources desperately lacking. After escaping from Fairview, and settling with a group of survivors on the outskirts, what does the new Dead Frontier: Outbreak game have in store? I am going to go on a limb here, and predict that the aim will be to bring survivors to a more permanent settlement, i.e. the most logical step, as you can see in the new season of The Walking Dead.

The Dead Frontier: Outbreak series is text-based zombie survival, so not much action action at all. It is more about wits, strategy and testing your undead survival skills. Think The Sagittarian, minus the awesome comic book graphics. Every choice you make can bring you closer to death and reanimation, or to salvation. Its a great series, the only downside being that it doesn't last nearly long enough.

We don't have Dead Frontier: Outbreak 3 on this page yet, but this is where you will be able to come and play it when it comes out, so think about bookmarking this page. The exact release date is unknown, but sticking with the development blog, it can be expected by the end of the month.

If you happen to be in New York tomorrow, and you want to have this signed by none other than Alexandra Daddario, who stars in this new chapter of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, head to the Javitz center in New York.

Texas Chainsaw 3D will be the first horror movie to be released in 2013, so let's hope for more pictures and trailers soon. And for a good, scary and bloody movie.

What I think: Not too sure about a Hitchcock love story... It just doesn't adds up in my mind how this could be more than cheese on celluloid... I am not taking anything from the work of Hitch, whose movies were part of my early horror exploration, but I cannot help but feel that there is no groundbreaking love story to tell, just a way to make money by exploiting the name of one the most influential directors of the 20th century.

Great cast though, but it remains to be seen if Anthony Hopkins will be nearly as well cast as John Cusack was as Edgar Allen Poe. Check the pictures below and tell me if Anthony Hopkins looks anything like Hitchcock in his iconic pose.

Like last season, the series will be cut into two, with a return in February, building up to the third season's final episode. So yes, the next season will keep the same format and keep us waiting in anticipation.

One can only hope that with Shane gone, there will be less focus on Lori, which was truly annoying last season. I don't dislike the actress (Sarah Wayne Callies) and I don't even dislike the character (that much), but seriously, the emphasis on Mrs Grimes has been overdone, let's move on in season 3, please. (That is just wishful thinking, I know, but then again, perhaps the show will have listened to its fans.)

On its launch date, the show will bring back favorite characters Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln, pictured below), Andrea (Laurie Holden), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Glenn (Steven Yeun). After that, who knows, the show surprised everybody by snuffing Dale. Didn't saw that one coming, did you? And it is for that reason precisely that the show is still worth a watch. Seriously, nobody is safe the Walking Dead's zombie apocalypse. Thank god AMC for that.

Honestly, the trailer looks really, really good. The almost deserted city, the darkness, the protagonist's fear, all this creates a very suspenseful atmosphere that succeeds in making you want to sit through this new horror film, and watch the fear and horror unfold.

What is explored in Citadel is fear, fear of others, and how to protect the ones you love despite this fear. In Citadel, others are the root of the fear, supernatural others, who are hunting the protagonist, Tommy Cowley (Aneurin Barnard). It is a promising premise, with a dark atmosphere and the promise of a scary manhunt in the derelict apartment complex known as the citadel. While the fear and the horror will likely be more psychological, it should still translate into goosebumps and hair-raising moments for some people. In other words: Definitely watch the trailer, and see if you like it enough to watch the movie.

No clear shot of Leatherface in the trailer, but enough to give us an idea of what the movie will be like, which is pretty much the same as the previous ones. I am hanging on for something new in horror, something that will rejuvenate the genre; from the looks of the clip, this won't be it, but at least the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise has always been fun, funny at times and even dark in the case of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. You can't say as much of all horror franchises.

Directed by John Luessenhop and starring Dan Yeager as Leatherface, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will be released in theaters January 4, 2013. It will be a time of hope, hope that 2013 will bring a much better line-up of horror movies than the last two years.

Awesome song, The Beast in Me (originally from Nick Lowes), playing in this trailer. That in itself makes this trailer worth a watch.

Officially called Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, it will star Dan Yeager as Leatherface and will mark the return to the franchise of the original Leatherface, Gunnar Hansen.

As this has been another pretty pathetic year as far as horror movies go, I am quite glad to see some sort of activity, even if it has to be from an old horror franchise. They have to give us something, right?

So there you have it: a new installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, on your screens starting January 2013.

They haven't sent me a trailer yet, but I'll be sure to post it when I get it.

While separated by both culture and geography, Juan in Spain and Mia in England are visited every night by a faceless intruder, a terrifying presence that grows increasingly oppressive in their dreams and daily lives, and dominates their families’ lives. The anxiety and tension increase when their parents also witness those apparitions. And that is when Intruders truly becomes a horror movie, in that instant when the apparition becomes potentially much more than the product of a child's imagination.

At first glance, the Intruders trailer introduces many possibilities, some reminiscent of Afraid of the Dark and Darkness, others of just plain old fashion posession and ghost movies, but as the childrens' fears become their parents' fears, the intruder grows in strength, whether or not he is the product of collective hallucinations or insanity. And therein lies, according to bloodee, the interest of the movie: discovering exactly who and/or what is the intruder. The word in blogs is that it is a monster born in childhood and passed on by the family. Genetics. Which would explain why only the father sees the intruder in parts of the trailer. But I am not convinced. I'd like this to be some kind of Horla, leaving bloody marks on those he haunts. Something savage, unpredictable and unexplainable, but real, at least in the childrens' minds. After all, that is how childhood fears feel.

That being said, as I haven't seen the movie, I do not know more about Intruders, but I am inclined to go out and see it, at least for the mystery and scary thriller value. Intruders will be release in the UK on January 27, 2012 and in the US in April 2012.

What I think: It was bound to happen. A mockumetary about vampires is just what we need!

What I think: Not much to say about this one, but remember what I said: INDEPENDENT zombie movie.

What I think: The more they send me about this movie, the more I am psyched. The CGI looks superb. I am expecting a not so inspiring hero (in comparison to Leonidas) and some cheese in the storyline, but on the flip side the CGI will probably make up for those potential flaws. And Mickey Rouke is in it. To be seen. If you haven't seen the great Greek Gods posters for this movie yet, check them out.

Starring Jack Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe, The Raven looks promising.

What I think: We need good actors to portray historically significant characters, and I think Cusack fits the bill. Check the picture. That's a believable Poe.

What I think: Season 1 was fun. Why shouldn't Season 2 be any different? Well, many horror movie sequels have a way of answering that question in a shitty way, but they don't have the quality of lasting less than 5 minutes... and keep you coming back for more. In a nutshell: I am looking forward to it.

BUT, I am not working today, so there you have it: several updates to the site about upcoming horror movies including The Shrine and now, the supernatural horror movie The Matrimony. You will find several pictures after the pitch.

What I think: Dead brides abound. It has been done before. But The Matrimony stars a big name of the Hong Kong music scene, Leon Lai Ming, and that is sure to draw some interest. Cheese factor aside, the movie is sometimes beautifully shot, rather that scary, as you can see in the Matrimony bathroom scene below.

What I think: Lately, IFC has gotten me hyped about several of their releases, especially Wrecked and Dream House, but this one seems to lack some umpf in comparison to the latter. Its got a somewhatish Population 436 premise (once you get there you can't leave), and that ain't bad, so this horror movie does seem interesting for a one-time watch. Can't say that about every movie.

What I think: Its not going to be a movie for the ages, but it will be entertaining enough, just like Piranha 3D was. Killer fish is killer fish, and unless you swim in a pool, that's got to be on your mind when you swim in the Ocean. Poster looks cool.

The Devil Bats were furry fiends created by a scientific genius who believes himself wrongfully relegated to concocting perfumes and colognes which he despises for wages not worth mentioning.  So, as a means to an embittered end, he manufactures an evil ointment with a scent that so infuriates his giant bats to such an extent they feel compelled to tear the throats out of their unsuspecting victims.

“Devil Bat Diary” tells for the first time the full inside story of what took place in ways not possible to show to Production Code audiences back then: such as Chief Wilkins being in love with Layton or that Mary Heath was a superstitious lunatic or that Layton and his trusted picture-taking partner “One-Shot” McGuire couldn’t stand the sight of each other!

Written to coincide with the 70th Anniversary of the film’s release and dedicated to the eternal memory of Bela Lugosi, “Devil Bat Diary” is an unforgettably entertaining venture into a world filled with chirping Chiropterans, malicious murders, sacred sex and revolting revelations.

What I think: Sigh. The Quick and the Undead was crapola, not expecting much out of this, and while we shouldn't judge a zombie movie by the look of its zombies, I have to say I don't like the makeup job here. That said, this is a rare (but becoming less and less rare) instalment in a sub-genre of the zombie movie. That in itself makes it worth a watch. View the trailer below, you will get a better idea.
