By Raven Black, the dark alleyway is a nifty little browser-based horror MMORPG when you have a couple of minutes to waste. The game is reminiscent of Urban Dead, the zombie Apocalypse game by Kevan Davis, where you move through a city represented by squares. Each square represents a building or a street, and your goal is quite simply to hunt humans for their blood. You get one to three pints of blood per pint depending on the power of the human, and the more you drink, the higher your status will be.
The city is 100 squares x 100 squares, therefore it is as big as Malton, and you get a maximum of 50 action points. A cool feature: the subway. You can move through the city via the tube that will get you from one station to the next at a cost of three action points and five coins. As a vampire, you can acquire a set of new powers which are all useful indeed: celerity, suction,
surprise, perception, stamina, shadows, locate, thievery, telepathy, charisma, neutrality, second-sight.
Overall, a nice little game for a rainy/snowy day. Not as elaborate as Urbandead, but on the positive side, easier to play. Between the two, I actually prefer Ravenblack's game, because of it's simplicity. However, when I get more than a few minutes of free time for games, I'll go for Urbandead.
