Win a horror writer's teeth!
|
How often do you come across a horror writer that wants to give you a piece of himself, and I mean that literally? Author Scott Nicholson is doing just that to help promote his new novel “They Hunger”, awarding three of his own permanent teeth! Described by the author as “Deliverance with vampires,” the book arrives in stores April 2007. For those interested in winning one of Nicholson’s dental delights, the writer is offering three ways to win a prize:
1. Copy and post a banner for "They Hunger" on your Myspace page, web site, blog or favorite message board (available on Nicholson’s website) and then email the link and your name to themanorbook AT yahoo.com with "Gimme Teeth" in the subject line
2. Download and print out a tip sheet for “They Hunger” and take it to your local bookstore. Email the name of the store and your name to themanorbook AT yahoo.com with "I Want Teeth" in the subject line.
3. If you want the easy way to enter the contest, all you need do is just sign up for Scott's free quarterly newsletter, scottnews-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
Nicholson is awarding one tooth prize per category and he is also allowing people to enter all three drawings to triple your chances to win. The winners will be notified on April 30, 2007 and in addition to claiming your tooth, Nicholson will also award a signed certificate of authenticity and a copy of the dental record from when the tooth was extracted from his mouth.
“They Hunger” sounds like it will be a harrowing fright of a story. It’s set in the Southern Appalachian Mountains where a sponsored adventure team is testing out two experimental rafts by riding them down 13 miles of treacherous whitewater rapids. At the same time, a madman that blew up two abortion clinics for religious reasons is running from the FBI, hiding out in the same woods as the adventurers. When two FBI agents set off a series of homemade bombs at the crazy’s campsite, they inadvertently blast open an underground cavern and release a bloodthirsty subterranean species out into the world. The rafters not only have to worry about the deadly rapids, surviving a freak storm and unexpected flood waters but the crazy person has one bomb left and is hearing voices telling him to set it off! Meanwhile, the carnivorous creatures from the bowels of the earth are free and stalking the humans, wanting to feed on them!
The book was inspired by real-life Cherokee legends of monsters in the gorge area. Advance word for “They Hunger” is good, with “Unspeakable Horror” calling Nicholson’s book “Hands down the scariest vampire novel to come along since Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot’.”
For real fans of horror literature this is a crazy and cool chance to win a one-of-a-kind prize. If Scott Nicholson becomes the next Stephen King or Clive Barker, you can tell your friends that you own one of his own teeth! And if you are really demented it would make for a unique bookmark!
